Terms and Conditions

SESSIONS:

At The Brooklyn Edit Suite (BES) the year is divided into 4 terms: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter. Courses differ in their length — some are 4 weeks, some 6 weeks, etc. But each course will begin and end within the terms stated above. Additionally, most classes have a required onboarding session which is included in the course fee.

HOLIDAYS:

BES observes the following holidays: Memorial Day, Independence Day (July 4), Labor Day, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Thanksgiving (includes the Wednesday before and the Friday after), Christmas, and New Year’s Day.  If a class falls on one of these holidays, said class will be rescheduled to an alternate date, sometimes extending a course’s time frame by one week.  Please consult your particular course schedule or contact The Brooklyn Edit Suite to determine whether your course has any classes that fall on a holiday.

BES is closed between Christmas (12/25) and New Years Day (1/1).

PAYMENTS

Payment must be received at least five (5) business days prior to a course start date or 30 total days (non-business days included) from registration; whichever comes first. For anyone who registers within five days of the start date, payment is due upon registration. If payment is not received per the above, students will not receive the Zoom link to attend class.

REFUND POLICY

A student who cancels within 14 days of signing the enrollment agreement but before instruction begins receives all monies returned. No other refunds are offered.

DISCOUNT POLICY

Discounts are valid on new class registrations only, and cannot be applied to prior booked, scheduled or registered courses. Discounts are only applicable to single course offerings. Discounts must be mentioned at the time of registration. To enjoy your discount, payment is expected prior to the commencement of class.

MISSED CLASSES:

Students are responsible for knowing the course schedule and thus are responsible for being present for all classes. There are no refunds for missed classes. There are also no make-up classes for individual students who miss classes unless there are extenuating circumstances — these circumstances are subject to review on a case-by-case basis by The Brooklyn Edit Suite and there are no guarantees a make-up class will be granted. In the unlikely event an instructor needs to reschedule a class because of illness or other extenuating circumstances, students will be notified and a make-up class will be scheduled. If the make-up class is the same date and time the following week, the course will extend by one week.  If a student absolutely cannot attend the make-up date, they will be offered an invitation to attend the same or similar class of a course in a subsequent term.

ONLINE PROTOCOLS & BEHAVIOR:

Because The Brooklyn Edit Suite is an online learning space (conducted via Zoom) students must adhere to strict online decorum: Students are required to attend every class from a quiet setting without distraction.  This means you may not be outside, in transit, or in any other public setting.  You must “mute” yourself if requested by an instructor.  Use of the Zoom “chat” forum is strictly reserved for questions or comments germane to the class. Any use of the “chat” function for harassment, bullying, or anything else deemed inappropriate by an instructor is strictly forbidden and will subject a student to immediate removal from the course without a refund.

The Brooklyn Edit Suite does not guarantee a job or any form of employment to any student or graduate of the program.
