With years of experience editing for HBO, Showtime, Netflix, Disney+, and more, as well as directing award-winning independent films, James understands both the technical precision and artistic intuition that make a great editor.
His teaching style is personal, combining rigor and fun. Once a student’s strengths are identified , he designs tailored exercises and assignments to illuminate and address areas that need improvement. He doesn’t just teach software—he teaches the craft of editing, helping students build strong storytelling instincts and professional-level skills. Many of his students have gone on to work in the film and television industry, and James is known for providing meaningful mentorship and career guidance along the way.
